2 Day Course – $240/Student
Agencies have purchased Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) to use for various reasons, but the personnel assigned to operate the aircraft have received no training on how to fly the aircraft. This course is designed to assist newly assigned personnel as well as veteran personnel in learning how to operate the agency’s sUAS. Course will cover required equipment, safety, basic flight maneuvers, logbooks, in-flight emergencies, and other issues. Attending operators/pilots will be required to fly their aircraft in the course under the guidance of Remote Pilots. There is a required Evaluation Proficiency Practical Test to complete the course. If there would be inclement weather that arises and would interfere with the course, the course will be rescheduled to a rain date.
Course is for Public Safety Personnel Only (Law Enforcement, Fire/EMS, Search & Rescue). Must have a Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate, or if the Pilot/Operator student has taken the FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Exam, passed and is waiting for the Temporary Certificate to be issued, or has been operating under the Agency’s COA as Self-Certified, or has not yet taken the FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Exam, but the Agency has assigned them duties as the Remote Pilot, he/she may participate in the course and receive a certificate as long as one of the Remote Pilots or Remote Pilot-In-Command is present and within close range to take over the controller if an emergency arises.
