Introduction
Recent updates to the Autel Evo Max 4T have introduced enhanced features, but some users have reported encountering connectivity problems. After updating to the V1.7 software, issues such as camera loss and disconnection between the drone and the remote controller have been observed by some. However, it’s essential to note that these issues haven’t been directly linked to the new version update. Autel Robotics has been diligently working over the weekend to provide a solution for customers experiencing these concerns. If you’re facing similar issues following your drone’s OTA (Over-The-Air) update, this guide offers instructions using the 4T firmware released over the weekend.

Connectivity Issues Overview
Post updating their Autel Evo Max 4T to V1.7 software, users have encountered connectivity troubles, including camera malfunctions and disconnection between the drone and the remote controller. These issues, however, are not directly associated with the firmware update. In response, Autel has released RC firmware and provided step-by-step instructions to assist Evo Max 4T users in resolving these concerns.
RC Factory Reset and Firmware Reversion
In the past, performing a factory reset on the RC (Remote Controller) would typically restore it to V1.0.0.0 from the previous version V1.6.0.47. However, with the new RC update, this behavior has changed. Post-update, a factory reset might not fully revert the controller to V1.0.0.0 as it did before. This alteration in the factory reset process became apparent with the release of the new RC firmware version V1.6.0.59.
Update Instructions
Aircraft (AC) Update Steps: Version V1.7.0.51

- Prepare the SD card: Format an SD card and copy only two files into it: “ModelX.uav” and “upgradeProfile.json”.
- Insert SD card into the aircraft: After the aircraft has been powered on for at least a minute, insert the SD card into the aircraft.
- Monitor upgrade mode: Observe the front arm light flashing blue and the rear arm light flashing green, indicating that the aircraft has entered upgrade mode, which typically lasts for 15 minutes.
- Completion indication: Wait for the upgrade process to complete; the arm light will stay on, indicating a successful upgrade. If the upgrade fails, a slow blinking red light on the arm might be observed.
Remote Controller (RC) Update Steps: Version V1.6.0.59

- Prepare a flash drive: Format a flash drive and place only the “RC79.uav” file into it.
- Turn on the RC: Wait for a minute after turning on the RC and then insert the flash drive.
- Initiate update: Click “Confirm” to enter the upgrade interface and then click “Update All”.
- Monitor progress: Wait for the progress bar to reach 100%. Restart the RC and verify that the RC version has been successfully upgraded to the target version.
- Addressing upgrade failures: If the upgrade fails, restart the RC, unplug the USB disk, and attempt the upgrade process again.
Conclusion
Amid recent concerns regarding connectivity issues after the V1.7 software update, it’s important to note that these issues have not been directly attributed to this new version update. Autel Robotics has been dedicatedly working to provide a solution for affected customers. The recent connectivity issues following the V1.7 software update have prompted Autel to release the 4T firmware and provide comprehensive update instructions. Users encountering problems with OTA updates on their Autel Evo Max Series drones can utilize these steps to address connectivity issues, ensuring a smoother and more stable drone operation.
